Not all pico lasers are the same. Discover the illumia way with PicoSure Laser.

From $240

A personalised PicoSure programme at illumia Medical targets these concerns at their source so you can face each day confidently. No more relying on layers of makeup!

Why Low Cost Pico Laser Treatments Usually Don't Work?

PicoSure Laser is the only picosecond laser utilising the 755nm wavelength, all other picolasers work on the 1064nm wavelength.

Melanin, the pigment behind freckles, sun spots and some birthmarks, absorbs 755nm light far more readily than surrounding tissue. By concentrating energy on darker areas while limiting heat spread, PicoSure Laser supports pigment clearance with little downtime.

Our 5-Steps PicoSure Laser Treatment Process

  • You will meet the doctor to talk through your concerns, skin history and treatment goals.
  • Your skin is assessed to understand pigment depth, scar texture and pore appearance.
  • A personalised Pico Laser plan is then mapped out based on your needs.
  • A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to keep you comfortable.
  • You can rest for 20–30 minutes while it takes effect.
  • The PicoSure Laser delivers ultra-short pulses to target unwanted pigment and support skin renewal.
  • This step also helps encourage collagen activity for younger-looking skin over time.
  • The laser portion usually takes about 15 minutes.
  • After the laser step, LED light therapy is used to help calm the skin.
  • This stage takes around 20 minutes and supports the recovery process.
  • After your session, you will receive simple aftercare advice, including sun protection and skincare guidance.
  • Treatments are usually spaced about one month apart.
  • Most patients notice gradual improvement over 5–6 sessions, with the skin looking clearer and more refined over time.

How Pico Laser Works in 3 Quick Stages

A pico laser fires bursts of light that last just one picosecond, a trillionth of a second, to deliver pulses at a 755nm wavelength that melanin absorbs readily.

This is how the process works:

Target

Ultra-short flashes seek out clusters of unwanted pigment below the skin’s surface.

Shatter

The rapid energy breaks each cluster into fine particles without broadly heating nearby tissue.

Clear

Your lymphatic system gradually removes the fragments, allowing skin to appear clearer and more even-toned.

The Focus Lens: Targeting Texture and Scars

Pico Laser offers an optional Focus Lens that concentrates the beam up to 20-fold, producing pinpoint laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) zones beneath the skin. These micro-zones prompt the body’s organised repair response rather than heating broad areas.

Over several sessions, this approach can help to:

Soften the look of acne scars and fine lines

Refine enlarged pores

Brighten skin that appears dull or uneven

Encourage collagen and elastin renewal with each visit

FAQs

Is PicoSure Laser suitable for my skin tone?

PicoSure Laser is designed to work across a range of skin types. During your consultation, the doctor will assess your skin and advise whether Pico Laser is appropriate for your specific concerns and complexion.

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients describe the sensation as a mild snapping feeling. A numbing cream is applied beforehand to keep you comfortable throughout the session.

What is the downtime after treatment?

Most patients resume their normal routine immediately after. Some mild redness or sensitivity may occur for a short period, and you will be given aftercare guidance to support your recovery.

When will I start to see results?

Skin improvement with Pico Laser is typically gradual. Many patients notice their complexion becoming clearer and more even over the course of several sessions, with continued improvement between visits.
